The only experience that I've had with professional gaming has always been with a controller in hand and look upon as a rebel from the curve because I call myself a console gamer. Console gaming undoubtedly has been around for a wail, the first major breakthrough was the Atari, and then the revolution was led by Nintendo. I personally didn't get to play the Atari as my first system, I was the lucky one to grow up with the SNES, and after my long hours of playing duck hunt, and games such as Battle Toads with my brother, we found our way into the Sega Saturn and I fell in love with Role Playing Games. The interesting thing is that I didn't even consider playing first person shooters until Halo 1, honestly I would go to a comic book shop and play D and D, as well as Magic the Gathering. Enough about me, the main problem I have noticed with console gaming however is that unlike computers, consoles don't have as much longevity, and only have one purpose, to play video games.

My first main point is that even though people do pay $1000 to $2000 for their personal PC or Mac, to the trained eye, you should only be paying maybe $500 to $600 for your straight out of the factory unit. These prices compared to previous consoles such as the original Xbox and PlayStation 2 are almost three times greater, but your PlayStation or Xbox could only play video games, while your PC can surf the web, connect to people, play video games, do your taxes, what I'm getting at is that in this age the computer does so much more and is greatly cost efficient compared to the continuous buying of consoles every 5 or 6 years as well as the $60 games which is the only function of your console.

My second main point is that most games that are available to console are available to PC and actually look better on PC depending on what graphics card your computer has, yes this does seem unfair in a sense to people less fortunate, but at least computers don't have limitations to how decent the graphics can look, because that's the main problem with these consoles, they start getting out dated graphics, while even though they looked good when you first got it, normally someone would just pay maybe $150 for an upgrade instead of $300 for a brand new system.

Computers versatility as well as multiple functions across all age groups allow it to always dominate because it has no limitation to race, class, sex, or where you live in the world, a computer will be available. Consoles are good for a present, but anyone will tell you to get a computer before you pay for a console because to even play online or unlock its true capacity for knowledge, you end up paying hidden fees which then eventually equals the price of a computer. Consoles have a lot of catching up to do because computers have had at least 50 years to develop to society and that's what truly makes it more dominate in society, and yes this is why Consoles truly fail because not every part of society or the world can adapt to it.
